There are many criteria for beginners buying a guitar but the main criteria is that you purchase it from a specialist music retailer. This can be online or a real music shop but the seller must be a specialist. Will only stock guitars of a good standard because as musicians themselves they know a good guitar from a bad one. I always take people to a real music shop and know that whatever is offered will be good because I can walk back in with it if it is no good. For buying online you should again check that the seller is a specialist guitar retailer and they have a solid returns guarantee.
